Meet Drew

My name is Drew Cason and I’m excited to earn your vote to represent District J in the Alaska State Senate.

I am a third generation Alaskan and proud graduate of Anchorage School District and University of Alaska Anchorage where I competed as a member of UAA’s Seawolf Debate Program.

Drew Cason

Since graduating from UAA, I co-founded (and sold) a small 3D facilities imaging business, advocated for Alaskans and attainable housing at the Federal and local level, and spent 3 years working for the bipartisan House Majority and House Speaker Bryce Edgmon in the Alaska Legislature. I’ve organized and participated in debates and other public forums on state fiscal issues, ballot initiatives, between candidates for office, and between voters. Today, I am a consultant at Professional Growth Systems, where I help public, private, and non-profit organizations create strategic plans, improve their systems and processes, and develop strong teams. Outside of my professional career in policy and advocacy, I have worked on advancing my priorities for our community through service on the boards of UAA Alumni Association, UAA Chancellor’s Advisory Board, Alaska Common Ground, and the Alaska Conservation Foundation.

When not working or volunteering, I enjoy ultimate frisbee, biking, hiking, camping, skiing, and packrafting with my fiance, Sierra, and our dog Wanda.

I’m running for office because District J deserves an effective voice in the Alaska State Senate, and I think I have the skills and disposition to provide it. We need to end the annual fights around the Permanent Fund Dividend and to fund critical State services from sustainable sources, not by continuing to overspend from our collective savings.

Anchorage and Alaska have incredible potential. We’ve always had bountiful natural resources and an incredible location, and I see no reason we shouldn’t also have the best schools and be the best place in the world to start a business. I love “North to the Future” as the State motto, but until we can find compromise and work together, we will continue to leave a huge amount of our potential on the table.
